Hand made felted sewing case with rag Rescue embellishments

I thought I would show you this felted sewing case that I have made. Apart from the hand made felt, everything else is sourced from Rag Rescue.
I have now made it available for sale on my Etsy shop so you can find it at

A very special sewing case made from hand made felt and embellished with lace, beads, vintage flowers, motifs and Rococo ribbon roses.
The flower shaped case has been made in four individual section which are tied together at the top with antique ivory silk ribbon. When the ribbon is untied the four section fall down to display four pockets holding a variety of vintage sewing equipment. The pockets have been made using French vintage fabric. The pockets hold a packet of vintage needles, some mending thread, a strip of Glamour buttons, four card reels of sewing silks, ribbon and lace.

More vintage silky hankies at the Rag Rescue website

I have finally managed to get my new broadband installed which is why I was unable to post for the past few days. Our house is very old and the BT cable coming into our house apparently was wearing out. This had to be replaced and then the new cable set up inside. I spent yesterday changing all of my personal emails over and I will probably spend this morning doing the same. However I think it will be worth it in the end as it is cheaper and the internet speed is so very much faster.

Getting back to the Rag Rescue business, I am now only listing new items on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Here are today's items that will be listed at 7am GMT.

Antique Norwegian Hardanger gold metallic braid

I bought and Antique Norwegian Hardanger costume that unfortunately the moths had had a good meal on. It was covered with gold metallic braid and beadwork. I spend 5 evenings stripping off all of the best pieces.
These braids are ideal for sewing onto cushions or bags. They have a wonderful patina which only age can give.

All listed today on the Rag Rescue website

Pure silk chiffon cocktail handkerchiefs. c.1920s.

1920's pure silk chiffon hankies are getting so rare now. As the silk was printed just for a handkerchief the design is complete. This is why designers of today like these as they do not have any copyright on them I am told.
Tomorrow I will be listing 5 silk chiffon hankies and one silk hankie.

Just look how wonderful the silk chiffon hankies look when made into a curtain.

Don't forget to check the
tomorrow to see these wonderful rare hankies.

Lack of internet connection stops play.

What a weekend it has been. On Friday I lost my internet connection. Well that's not strictly true, I did have connection but only for 2 minutes at a time. There was then a gap of anywhere from ten minutes to two hours before the connection came back. I rang my broadband provider and they tested and said is that everything was OK and it must be a fault on the BT line. Bt said there wasn't a fault and so it went on all over the weekend, phone call after phone call. It is driving me mad. It is now 5am and I am line but for how long I don't know. I've decided to go with just one provider and change to BT infinity. Unfortunately they can't come to fit the system until the end of October so the struggle to get online will continue. It will a long term solution but it means struggling with the business for the next three weeks.
I've managed over the weekend to sort out all the orders as they came in so perhaps it won't be too bad.
How ever did we cope without the internet?

Above you can see the vintage fabrics that went online in the website at the weekend. I think you now realise why they are late in arriving on the blog so please forgive me.
