Antique and vintage French toile fabric

Antique and vintage French toile fabric pieces, can be put to so many uses. I love this chair, which would work very well with the piece I have on sale today. I think personally, I would prefer a white or cream chair, but either would show of the fabric design.

I have also placed some wonderful antique quilted French toile fabric pieces on the website today.

Antique and vintage French toile fabric Wednesday

I have just placed four wonderful pieces of French toile fabric pieces on the Rag rescue website.

This French toile fabric is backed with linen. It may at one time have been part of a quilt. I would say that the design is 19th century.

A lovely design on this French toile fabric. Only £6.50

A large piece of red 19th century toile fabric. I think it has come at one time from a quilt as there are a few stitch holes.

This piece could be used as it is or cut up into small design pieces. There are a lot to choose from, gentleman horse and rider, dogs, ducks, chickens and lots of characters.
 48/49cms x 55/57cms ... 18.9"/19.3" x 21.7"/22.4"

A lovely design on this toile fabric. probably beginning of the 20th century.

Top 15cns x bottom 10cms x 29cms length.

More antique red and blue antique toile fabric.

As requested more antique toile fabrics have been placed on the website today.

This is a design I haven't seen previously. I tried to find out what the design is but to no avail I'm afraid. So let's call it lovers in a cave.

This is an early piece probably late 18th century going by the feel of the fabric and the dye colour.

A tiny hole to left of the woman's arm.

20cms x 20/21cms (7.9" x 7.9"/8.3")

This piece would look superb framed.

A great design on this fabric. the cotton fabric with the red toile design is stitched onto a backing of linen. There are some stitch holes at the bottom of the piece.
15cms x 25.5cms  (5.9" x 10")

Vintage French red toile covered in roses - Jan 38
If you like roses you will love this design. Roses and ribbons, our favourites.
42cms x 38cms   (16.5" x 15")
Good strong cotton.

Sorry this fabric has been sold.

Antique French toile fabric

What an exhausting day I've had. Yesterday my hubby slipped over whilst walking the dog and this morning his ankle and leg was badly swollen. I finally persuaded him to get an appointment at the doc's. He hates going but I was concerned. After going to see the nurse he was sent for an X-ray and told that he had broken his fibula. So off we go at 4.30pm back to the doctors who will take a look at the X-ray and probably send him to hospital to be plastered up.
My husband does all of the shopping cooking, walking the dog and trips to the post office, so gues who has to take all of that on now as well as run the business, look after mum and I still haven't dome the tax returns.
Still, I know that Steve would do the same for me and he never moans although he is obviously in a lot of pain, bless him.
I did manage to get some of my latest bundles of vintage fabric washed and ironed over the weekend and this afternoon managed to photograph them all. here is a sneak preview of them.

VINTAGE FABRIC WEEK - DAY 3

I don't normally buy a great deal of old French toile but in June of this year I found some pieces that I couldn't resist. I thought that they would look wonderful on cushions or bags. The first piece shown above, is a linen piece which I was told is getting harder and harder to find. Such a wonderful subject. The second piece I just couldn't resist. It must depict some French festival probably in Spring. It reminds me of dancing around the maypole although in this case around a tree with a garland of roses and a cherub flying overhead. Such detail, I just love it.

RAG RESCUE WEBSITE NEW LISTINGS

I've decided to end my listings on Thursday this week as I had forgotten that I am at auction on Wednesday all day. This means that I will not be listing vintage stashbags on Friday, they will have to wait until a later date.

Coming up next week - Vintage Lace week.
