Good and bad news at Rag Rescue

Morecambe Bay

Today I have good news and bad news. Strating with the good news, which is that I had a super day yesterday. All of the lace cards and embroidery pieces have been sold as well as other items too.
The bad news arrived when I switched on my laptop this morning. It appears that the checkout on the Rag Rescue isn't working for some reason. Thank you to a lovely customer for informing me of this.
I am trying to get it fixed as soon as possible but in the meantime if you wish to order from the site, could you please contact me with the ref. numbers via the contact page. I will get back to you asap and send you a paypal invoice.
Thank you for your patience.

The big freeze continues

Hubby is ill in bed so it was my turn to walk Ludo this morning. After donning on all of my thermals, I set out down the road just after dawn. the tide was coming in and all the birds were waiting for their breakfast on the shore. The snow on the mountains of the Lake District had a wonderful pink hue and all was quiet, not a car or pedestrian in sight. Only the bird song broke the silence.

We haven't had as much snow as the surrounding areas but apart from the main roads nothing has been gritted. the pavements and the prom were lethal for what snow we had had was trampled down and turned into solid ice. It is at least 15 years since Morecambe has had snow like this  and we have now had snow since just before Christmas with only a couple of days in between when it almost cleared.

Ludo loves the snow, having four legs helps I'm sure. he ran around madly whilst I held onto my walking pole and tottered along like an old lady.

So today I stay in again for most of the day. I'm not going to risk going to the auction on my own, those country lanes will not have been gritted and although I don't mind driving in the snow, ice is a different matter.
The schools here are still closed. I remember when I was teaching that the head insisted that we get into school. My friend and I drove 18 miles in a blizzard with huge snow drifts either side only to discover as we thought that no children had turned up. All of our children had to be bussed in and of course the bus company wouldn't risk it. No health and safety measures then.
Keep warm all of you.

Blue skies, sunshine --I think not

Morecambe during the storm 1906

Rough seas at Morecambe 1928

Yes - like many Winters here in Morecambe the wind whips the sea up into a frenzy especially when it is high tide. Today was no exception, but fortunately now we have very good sea defences, in fact they are amongst the best in the country.
I don't know why it is ,but every time I go to the hairdressers ,which is only a stones throw from the sea, the wind is always blowing a gale and today it almost blew me over. So much for my new hair style.
Still I feel very refreshed and have found a new lease of life now and know that what ever life throws at me I can cope with it. Life is rather like a storm at times but also like storms things quieten down and all becomes calm again.
I'm almost packed ready for the fairs next week and looking forward to meeting all my friends especially as one has just picked up a lovely dog from the rescue centre. His name is BILBO --- what a fantastic name, I can't wait to give him a hug.

TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY TO ORDER BEFORE I GO AWAY FOR THE WEEK.

THREE IMPORTANT ONES IN MY LIFE.

My husband Steve, my granddaughter Molly and my dog Ludo.

Life is great when you can walk down the road to play on the beach with those you love, especially when the weather is so fantastic.

I'm being very lazy this week in terms of work, just wrapping parcels and sending emails. It is so great when the weather is so glorious.

mum and I went shopping today and then walked along past the newly refurbished Midland Hotel and along the Jetty. The tide was in and the sea and sky was so blue. There was not a cloud in the sky. I came home and worked in the garden for two hours.

Now I have a confession. I haven't had time to do a preview today and I must get in the bath and soak my poor aching back. I always do too much gardening because I enjoy it so much. So tomorrows listings will be a surprise for you all.

Hopefully I get on top of everything tomorrow.

THE START OF MY WORKING DAY.

As my hubby is away it means that I get to walk Ludo our dog. I rose at 5am as my internal clock is still on fair times and by 5.10 amI was out of the door in the sunshine. This time I remembered to take my camera with me, I must have been wide awake as I normally forget.
Our walk took us through the churchyard and into the large Morecambe cemetery. The photo above shows the lovely old hall entrance, unfortunately long pulled down to make make way for the Town Hall. I just love looking through this arch way as you can see the bay and the Cumbrian mountains in the far distance on a clear day.
After a strenuous game of ball we then passed the boat yard and came to the front, crossed the road which was unbelieveably quiet, but I suppose it would be at that time in the morning, and went along to the beach, yet another game of ball. In order to get my breath back I stopped to take more photo's.

I usually like the bay better when the tide is in, but this morning it looked so magical with mist hanging over the mountains and the sun emphasising the ruts and hollows made in the mud by the boats.
On my return journey I stood talking for ages with a man and his retriever who seemed to have so much energy and was charging everywhere in the sunshine, the dog not my new friend.
An hour had passed when I returned home and I felt so exhilerated, perhaps I should make the effort every morning.
I was hoping to take some photo's of the sunset this evening as Morecambe Bay is famous for them, but the sun seems to have lost its battle with the clouds. Perhaps tomorrow evening.

More vintage fabrics.

Sorry of about the lateness of this post. Above are the items being listed tomorrow at the
RAG RESCUE WEBSITE.

I had a day off today with my 3 year granddaughter.
The weather was very unsettled but she so wanted to go down to the beach.
Armed with bucket and spade, dog and hubby we set off a couple of miles down the road to the salt marshes on the edge of Morecambe Bay. Fortunately the rain had stopped but the wind was incredibly strong, especially the further we walked out into the bay.
I love the photo below I took of Molly. The poor little mite almost got blown away. I'm calling this photo LIFT OFF
