Rag Rescue textile auction on facebook 22nd March

My sincere apologies for not blogging recently. My mum has been in and out of hospital. I won't go into all the details but yesterday she finally had to go into a nursing home. This now leaves me freer to start selling textiles again.
Tomorrow I have my first textile sale since January.
The auction sale is on facebook and it is a buy it now sale.
It starts at 7.30am GMT so you have to set your alarm if you are in the uk. However I do sell internationally and have many years experience shipping worldwide. So everyone is welcome. Items usually go quite quickly.
you will find the auction at -
https://www.facebook.com/groups/893726210744428/
If you haven't already joined the group then please do so before the auction. We will need to 'friend' each other before we can communicate.
ENJOY

Busy preparing for more listings.

The fairs were very busy, I've never seen so many people visiting them. I'm not sure what happened to the recession, it certainly seem to be around last week.I did however manage to find time to go out buying and found some wonderful old fabrics which are now drying ready for ironing and being organised into scrapbags, squares and stash bags. I also came across two boxes of haberdashery hidden amongst a pile of furniture. It contained loads of tassels and packets of old sequins amongst other odds and ends. I also found some more old lace, collectors will be pleased to hear. All will be revealed in due course.

The other interesting thing was that I spotted a furniture dealers van from Scotland. I recognised the the name as we had seen the advert for them at the side of the road on our holiday last October. My husband spoke to the owners as we had spotted outside their stall, a wonderful carved wooden bear stool. Unfortunately we didn't buy the bear as he was over a thousand pounds but we did find out something interesting. During the course of the conversation my husband told them that we were looking for old fabrics and to our delight he said he had cases of old fabrics stored away. A trip to Scotland is now on our list of things to do very soon, I can't wait to rescue these fabrics from their storage. Fingers crossed that they are just wonderful and still usable.

42 items being listed tomorrow including Antique lace

My apologises for not doing a preview of all 42 items being listed tomorrow morning. I am shattered as I've been photographing and listing since 7am and I think 12 hours around and on the computer is enough for me today.
Anyway, there is a good mix of antique lace, English and French large sized fabrics, haberdashery and embellishments for you to browse through.

Good Luck.

More lovely items tomorrow

Click on THIS LINK tomorrow amorning and it will take you straight to the new listings page on the website. There you will be able to see larger photographs of each item. As you can see there is a lovely mix of vintage buckles, beads, buttons embroidery silks, vintage French fabrics and ribbon. A hat trim, lovely bunch of vintage flowers and an unusual Lux beadcraft envelope containing instructions on bead work motifs and it comes complete with the beads.

I hope tomorrow is a better day than today. First the dentist, then the hand brake on the van seized and now the washing machine has broken with the clothes still in it. Oh well hopefully that's the three.

SPECIAL ITEM

Lovely old English ribbon with a design of roses.

STOCK UP YOUR STASH

I wanted to do just two things this week outside. Number one was to wash and dry all of the lovely fabrics I bought at the fairs and no. 2 was to get my husband cementing the wall in the garden.
It is so typical of the English weather, whenever you want to work outside it rains and rains and rains.

So the new fabrics are still drying inside and hopefully I will be able to get a few scrap bags cut for you tomorrow.
I've listed some more scrap bags that I had completed before the fairs and some large fabrics that were in my stash.
Hope you enjoy looking at the new items I am listing. I shall be listing every day this week.

KEEP LOOKING HERE
and stock up for your Autumnal and Winter crafting activities.

What a find

I came across this wonderful old piece of fabric at the beginning of December. It is one of a number from the same hanging. I think they are European in origin and quite early as the design is woven into the fabric. Unfortunately some of the pieces have begun to shred in places but there is still sufficient to frame.
If anyone is interested, can enlighten me more or would like further photographs please contact me through the Rag Rescue website.

I'd just like to thank everyone who have kick started the New Year by buying from the Rag Rescue website. I think Google is now picking up the site as I have had orders from America as well as the UK.

Snowflakes are falling on my head.

Hanging snowflakes on the tree or in the windows makes Christmas feel really wintery even if the sun is shining.
These crochet motifs have been stiffly starched and only need a looped thread adding to them. At just £1.00 each they are a bargain and something you won't find in the shops just unique. They have been going fast and I only have 8 left, so visit my website and order NOW at

RAG RESCUE WEBSITE
in the Vintage embellishments/lace section.

I'd like to apologise to everyone who looked at my new website, for the poor photographic quality. I have spent the last few days re -doing them all and I hope you find them more attractive.
You can now safely look through the site at the attractive display of vintage fabrics, embellishments and trims and hopefully find something you like.

Keeping old textiles out of landfill

There is an estimated one million tonnes of textiles that goes into UK landfills each year. This is a dreadful situation, no wonder our planet is under stress.

To this end and because we are in the antique business, we have decided to save some of the antique and vintage textiles from near death and offer them to crafters, artisans, quilters, embellishers, fiber artists and designers for re-use.

This blog will help you to understand what we do and how our items can be re-used in projects. I hope it will become a showcase for your work and encourage others to use recycled textiles in their designs for the future.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SWAP LINKS ON THIS BLOG OR THE WEBSITE PLEASE CONTACT ME.
