Yes - like many Winters here in Morecambe the wind whips the sea up into a frenzy especially when it is high tide. Today was no exception, but fortunately now we have very good sea defences, in fact they are amongst the best in the country.

I don't know why it is ,but every time I go to the hairdressers ,which is only a stones throw from the sea, the wind is always blowing a gale and today it almost blew me over. So much for my new hair style.

Still I feel very refreshed and have found a new lease of life now and know that what ever life throws at me I can cope with it. Life is rather like a storm at times but also like storms things quieten down and all becomes calm again.

I'm almost packed ready for the fairs next week and looking forward to meeting all my friends especially as one has just picked up a lovely dog from the rescue centre. His name is BILBO --- what a fantastic name, I can't wait to give him a hug.

LAST SEPTEMBER WEBSITE UPDATES - VINTAGE SQUARES

Tomorrow will be the last update of the Rag Rescue website in September.

There are now over 1200 items on the site so plenty to browse through.

Next week I start on the marathon long run of nine days of fairs. I leave home next Wednesday to stay with mum overnight, unload some stock and then travel back north to Stafford to exhibit at Bingley Hall. I leave Stafford on Sunday evening and then travel east to Lincoln for the new Swallow fair (ex Swinderby, not to be confused with the IACF Swinderby) I stay there until Wednesday and then on to Newark on Thursday for two days. Fortunately for me this run of 9 days only happens once a year, thank goodness.

Rag Rescue website will remain open and I will still be taking orders via my laptop. It worked well last time and  many of my website customers visited me at the fairs, which was great to meet everyone in the flesh so to speak.

Do come along if you possibly can. I take most items with me that are on the site apart from the larger fabrics, which I don't have space for, but there will be lots more haberdashery and trims to see.

I will continue to write new posts on this blog until Monday and keep you all updated with what I'm doing, apart from catching up on my sleep, but also giving details of where you will be able to find me at the fairs and order details whilst I'm away.

Off to the fairs

The time has around again when we must pick up all of our stock and head for the fairs.
In just over a week we will be filling the van to the roof and travelling over the Pennines to the wonderfu fair at Swinderby, Lincolnshire. This Antiques fair is huge and grows bigger each year. Buyers arrive from all four corners of the globe to ship out the superb antiques and collectables that are on display. The Christmas Swinderby Fair is open on 4th and 5th December. You will need stout shoes for walking, warm clothes and waterproofs just in case. The best day to visit is the Tuesday which is trade day but anyone is welcome. Many of the outside pitches leave after this day so if you want to view everything then Tuesday is recommended.
There are huge marquees, which is great for this time of year, food stalls, disabled facilities with mobility scooters for hire and International lounges.
It is free entrance on Wednesday.
On the Wednesday after we have packed everything up we normally move down the road to the Newark International Antiques fair but this time we are off to Stafford Bingley Hall Antiques Fair until the Sunday evening. This is a much smaller affair n comparison to Swinderby but warm, friendly and just as much fun. It is all inside in a huge building.

plus much more which I haven't had time to put on the site.
