Vintage fabric scrappy parcels

before I went to the fairs I made loads of vintage fabric parcels. They sold extremely well, but unfortunately only these seven are left.
I've started thinking about Christmas crafting so there are four vintage fabric scrappy parcels in red and green designs. There will be more to follow as I have bought numerous vintage fabrics that will be suitable for the Christmas festival celebration.
Each parcel contains 20 pieces with one side less than 4". Some pieces are long. Ideal for crazy quilting, mixed with the wonderful array of coloured vintage silks that you can also find on the Rag Rescue site.
These vintage fabric scrappy parcels will be listed tomorrow 24th August at 7am.
Find them in the New listings category on the RAG RESCUE SITE

Quilting with rescued Victorian fabrics - Charlotte - 1

Having purchased an almost two hundred year old cottage, Charlotte decided to make a quilt using recycled Victorian fabrics. She had never quilted before but took on this mammoth task with enthusiasm and patience.

Whilst waiting for the sign over of the house, she carefully added patches to the quilt.

The quilt is now taking shape as Charlotte carefully chose each individually piece, matching colours and shapes.

They are finally in their new home so I presume that Charlotte's time has been filled with decorating. I know that as the evenings draw in she will enjoy getting back to her quilting and it won't be long before this quilt takes pride of place on her bed.

Follow Charlotte's quilting progress on the side bar 'Look at what Rag rescue customers have created.'

Rupert Bear vintage fabric squares

A little late in posting I'm afraid. I got a long phone call from a friend just as I was about to start writing this post and by the time the phone call had ended I forgot all about my blog.

I couldn't resist these lovely vintage fabric squares. They will look wonderful as a quilt or individually as a cushion or embellished on a bag for a child.
They are now on the Rag Rescue website and you can find them today in 'New Listings' category or in the larger fabrics section. I've put them in the larger fabrics as they are 7 inches squares and at only 70p a square I think they are a real bargain.

Preparations for Lincoln Antiques and Home show and Newark antiques Fair

Victorian quilted pieces tomorrow at Rag Rescue website

As well as tending to orders today I've been busy washing white Victorian blouses, pantaloons, nightdresses and skirts as well as ironing beautiful vintage dresses, ready for the fairs. I also got some lovely white on white embroidered fabrics at auction the other week, so they have had a good soak and dried in the sunshine. My husband and I were fighting for space in our tiny garden for as I was hanging out the washing he was cleaning and restoring stock.
It all go, here in Morecambe, busy, busy, busy.
Fairs start on 7th June, so not long to go.

Vintage fabric scrapbags and squares at Rag Rescue

Rag Rescue salvages scraps of vintage fabrics and embellishments from the past and brings them into the future, clean and fresh ready to start a new life in the 21st Century.

By re-using these vintage fabrics and trims, we hope to reduce the estimated one million tonnes of textiles that goes into UK landfills each year.

We have many great patterns and artefacts from the past to share with you. Whether you are a crafter, embellisher, artisan, quilter, fibre artist or designer we hope to fulfil your creative needs.

I hope that by encouraging you to recycle the delectable textiles from years gone by, you will be able to make unique fashion and home accessories for the future.
As advertised in the SEW MAGAZINE

All patched up on Friday

I can't believe it is Friday tomorrow. Where does the week go?
Apart from wrapping up numerous orders this week I've been attacking my stock room. Well you still have difficulty getting in it but I'm beginning to sort it out. Recently I managed to buy some lovely old drapers drawer boxes which are really large so I've been sorting out some more stock for the coming weeks. All the items that are on the website and go to fairs are numerically ordered so fortunately they don't need touching. It is all the boxes of haberdashery and embellishments that take up the space when they aren't sorted properly. Hopefully tomorrow will see a lovely neat and tidy stock room.
I'm going to be busy sorting out all of my boxes of ribbons tonight in front of the telly. One of my designers is looking for certain types so I'm just about to carry all the numerous boxes downstairs and start the hunt. I just love old ribbons so it will be a night of enjoyment.
Tomorrow I'm listing a few vintage patches from old quilts. This is the first of many in the coming weeks so keep a look out if that is what you like.

MY PAST CREATIONS no. 1

I thought I would show you some of the items that I made in the past few years. This is to prove that I'm also creative with my finds as well as selling them to you.
I do miss sewing I must admit and one day I will find the time to make a bag for myself. At the moment the Rag Rescue site is so busy that there aren't enough hours in the day for creating for myself.

The bag above was made from English vintage fabrics.

I loved this bag. It was made from antique quilt pieces similar to the ones I sell on the site.

I tried something different with this one as I had an old quilt with the most wonderful design of roses which I used as the centre piece surrounded with mother of pearl buttons.
The design on this old quilt was so wonderful that 'Louise loves' had it copied for her now famous fabrics and wallpaper.

And finally my bucket shaped bag.

These bags were all sold immediately but I thought it would show how the old patchwork pieces can be recycled and used for an effective modern look.

News Update

I just noticed a few hours ago that there was only one item in the 'New Listings' category on the site. Silly me must have put the wrong date on when listing.
I have therefore listed some more scrapbags which I had prepared earlier so they will be listed tomorrow morning. I thought I'd give you all a chance to see them before I go to the fairs.

VINTAGE FABRIC DAY INCLUDING MARCEL BOUSSAC

LOST AND NOW FOUND
Amongst the four large pieces of vintage fabric being listed tomorrow is a piece of Marcel Boussac fabric dated 1939

I remember this fabric from years ago when I lived in Rugby. I used to buy boxes full of fabric in those days. I remember thinking at the time what superb quality it was. My mother, a tailoress by trade, soon noticed the quality and said she would take it and make something for herself.
A few weeks ago I was sorting out mums fabrics and came across this piece again, she had put it away and forgotten all about it.
It wasn't until I was getting the listing ready that I noticed faint printing on the edge of the fabric. To my surprise it stated -
'boussac MCMLXXXIX'
Marcel Boussac (April 17, 1889 – March 21, 1980) was a French entrepreneur best known for his ownership of the Maison Dior . He was internationally famous from the 1930s.

This is a beautiful piece of unused fabric with a fabulous design, after all Marcel Boussac distinguished himself by the taste for quality, innovation and originality.
Mum was right even though she didn't know it.

I also have four pieces of quilting being listed tomorrow. Ideal for making cushion fronts from. I've already made one and it looks lovely on my office chair.

This fabric is marked - 'boussac MCMLXXXIX'

A beautiful piece of unused fabric with a fabulous design, after all Marcel Boussac distinguished himself by the taste for quality, innovation and originality.
