Well I haven't completed all the washing of the newly obtained fabrics but I thought I'd better make a start on listing some vintage fabrics.

Tomorrow will see some lovely vintage fabric 'scrappy parcels' and some more vintage fabric 'scrapbags' placed on the website.

I have run really low on vintage fabric 'scrapbags' so I have been busy making lots more. I'll probably put a few on each day so that you will have a good variety to choose from.

What a hectic day. I've been multi tasking all day and am now so exhausted. A local auction house is so small that on auction day we have found it to be rather an unpleasant experience. We therefore now view the day before and I sit at my computer all day listening to the auction on the computer and bid online. Today I thought whilst I was waiting for the lots to come up , I would catch up on some paperwork as the end of the financial year is within sight. This was OK except that at the same time my web designer was making alterations to the Rag Rescue website and kept emailing me and then having had problems with the server I had to get in touch with them, wait for and an answer and pass it back. All this following a sleepless night meant that I was working so slow and didn't get all my paperwork done. Still there is always another day or night and at least I have a much more efficient admin site making the time I spend on the computer far less. I did also win a handful of lots for the antiques side of the business so it was all well worth it in the end.

OOps! I forgot to post these. Not very good photos on here I'm afraid. I'm using a mosaic maker and the scrapbags photo's I've taken seem to be chopped off. I suppose it is because the scrapbags are long and the mosaics are square. Still as it is 6.20 am only 40mins until they are listed on the website

VINTAGE FABRIC SCRAPBAG DESIGN IDEAS

SO YOU HAVE INVITED GUESTS AROUND FOR AN INFORMAL BAR-B-QUE OR PICNIC.............

Why not make some unique napkin holders made from a Rag Rescue scrapbag.
Each scrapbag has four colour coordinated vintage fabrics each piece long enough for this idea. So simple, quick to make, cheap at £3.50 for 4 and will be a talking point for your friends.

Take each piece and join along the long sides with the reverse side of the fabric facing outwards. Measure the length you want for your napkin when folded, tuck in the ends and hand sew together. Iron flat.

You can decorate them with a bow made of ribbon (available also on the Rag Rescue site) or why not use a pretty button or buckle similar to the ones shown below.

This is just one way to make a napkin holder. You could edge the fabric with lace or rather than sewing the ends together, just tuck in and add your buttons or a lovely tassel., then tie around the napkin. Toilet roll centres covered with the fabric by glue make sturdy napkin holders. If you find them unhygienic just pop them in the microwave for 30 secs, a trick I learnt from my teaching days. You can add any embellishment you wish and there are plenty to choose from at the Rag Rescue site.

I am sorry that I have not had the time to do a block picture of more of the items. Today has been another busy day working on correcting the website.
The great news it that it is fully automated now, thank goodness. When a payment is made by paypal, the items are put on hold immediately and your invoice shows up in your account. This means I will have more time to prepare new items and find them for you.
What a relief.
If you do have a problem please let me know as soon as possible so that I can get it corrected.

Preparing for the fairs.

I've been busy this last week making new scrap bags from some lovely fabrics that I have recently salvaged. The one on the far left are wonderful flowery lilac florals in a lilac colour all French fabrics. The centre one is Summer flowers, poppies and tulips and the right hand one is wonderful Victorian fabrics salvaged from Victorian quilts.
