More exquisite antique silk fabrics have been put on the website this morning. These are just divine and rare.
This is an early antique tan coloured silk with woven golden spray flowers
and light green fruits and embroidered silk fuschias. I would say that
it is early 19th century if not earlier.
I think it must have once been part of a dress as there is a light scrim backing attached.

Fantastic wine coloured silk with the most luxurious soft to the touch.
Unfortunately due to it's age there are some areas of wear and some splits. However if this was used for applique with a backing they wouldn't show. There is a lot of silk to use for projects.
