More wonderful French vintage fabrics added to the Rag Rescue website today.

I'm feeling much better after my break away. Today is the first of many more days of listing wonderful vintage fabrics and trims.
If you click on each photo you will see a description and measurements of each fabric. You can buy them at www.ragrescue.co.uk in the 'larger fabrics' section.
French antique fabric with a 1920s sunbathing scene - Jan 3
What a find this was. A great printed scene on a beach of three young ladies sunbathing on the beach in the latest daring fashions.

I had a large piece of this fabric but there was quite a lot of staining in between the motifs so I had to cut them out to save the wonderful designs. This design would look superb if it was appliqued onto a cushion/pillow or bag. I think it is so unique that it would look superb framed.

The design measures 36cms across and 22cms down. I have managed to leave some of the cotton fabric around the design making the whole piece 42cms across and 24cms down at the widest points.
2 available at £15.00 each.

SORRY, ALL SOLD NOW.

Vintage French cotton fabric - Jan 8
My favourite colour scheme has been used on this wonderful fabric which dates from around the mid 19th century.

There is a small 13cms long seam rather like a dart in the centre top of the fabric but the pattern matches.

46/47cms x 36cms
Only one piece left at £8.00

This piece is sold, however I have a few pieces from different parts of the design. Please leave a comment if you are interested and I'll send you a photograph with details.

Sorry, these pieces has now been sold.

Rag Rescue wishes a Happy New Year to you all.

I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas and New Year celebrations and are looking forward to creating new projects in 2014.
My dealer in France came to see me early in December and I was able to choose some wonderful French fabrics. Due to numerous visitors over the Christmas period I haven't been able to start preparing the fabrics ready for sale but tomorrow I go back to work in earnest. I am hoping to be able to list some of the new fabrics very shortly.
The break away from listing every day,has done me a power of good and I feel that I now have more energy to carry on in a similar vein as before. I am hoping to list new items for three weeks in every month.
My promise to you all is ...............

Rag Rescue 'Pick of the day' - Large piece of antique beaded net with the Glasgow rose design. Discount day.

A most amazing piece of beaded net in the Glasgow style containing a design of five 'Glasgow roses' using  white and silver glass bugle beads of differing lengths. there is a central slightly larger rose 9.5cms x 10cms and 4 slightly smaller roses 9cms x 9cms.
the roses are surrounded by trailing stems and leaves which create a flowing design all in beads.
The net is a pale pink and it has two large scallops on the bottom edge moving from 68cms plus 4 cms of beaded drops to 40cms + 4cms beaded drops at the top of the scallop shape.
The whole piece is 1.25m wide.

There is some damage to the top of the net away from the decoration at both end which could be trimmed off. However the main decorated piece is in excellent condition.

There are so many uses for this beaded piece one of which would be to use the design for other items.

The 'Glasgow rose' was a signature in many of Charles Rennie Mackintosh interior designs around 1900. It is thought that it was first used by Jessie Newbery in her textile design, although this hasn't been proved and was soon everywhere in Glasgow.

This beaded piece is very rare.

Why not make your Christmas cards, parcels or gifts a little different this year with the addition of vintage trimmings from Rag Rescue. There are lots of trimmings in the embellishment and haberdashery sections of the website.
Here are just a few that I have added today.

Why not make a gift card by adding vintage fabric to card, so unique.

Here are the vintage fabric squares I listed yesterday.

Rag Rescue's sourced items for sewing art journals.

Something a little different today. A number of antique advertising papers have been added to the website.
These can be used in so many ways. I like to use them in my sewing journals, either as they are or copied onto linen. I am sure you can think of so many more uses.

I love this idea of using vintage haberdashery as a cover for an art sewing journal. Of course any of the above advertising papers would look great incorporated into the design.

A busy time at Rag Rescue website

I've been busy making a large Christmas cake this weekend. It is years since I made one, but as the family are coming over for Christmas I thought I would make a big splash this year. Lots more baking on my list. That is when I have completed the decorating of the guest room.

I've still found time to wrap up all of the orders that came in over the weekend. My husband will have to take two large bags full of parcels to the post office this morning. This is why I haven't had time to write any posts this weekend, just so busy.

Today I've listed four lovely pieces of vintage fabric for all of those small projects.
I'm afraid two of them have already been snapped up but there are still plenty on the website to wet your appetite.
Here is a wonderful idea that I found and ideal for using small vintage fabrics.

It was made by
It has been sold now, but she has some great ideas.
Here are the vintage fabrics that I listed over the weekend.

Well I'd better get moving now. I need to sort mum out and when the shops open go and buy some paint and sort out a new carpet for the guest room.
There is no rest for the wicked.
