Superb antique lace and white work embroidery.

These are excellent pieces of antique lace and white work embroidery for your small projects.
Totally unique, not to be found again.
They are part of a vicar's wife's collection I bought, she had been collecting really good old pieces for many many years.
All washed clean as they had been tea stained.

Very pretty vintage French fabrics at Rag Rescue tomorrow

Just love the roses on these fabrics and what about that 1940's fabric with baskets of fruit and flowers? I think that one could be English although it came from France.

Four vintage French fabrics from my latest buys.

These four pieces of Vintage fabrics I am calling 'Vintage fabrics for small projects'.
They are two small for cushion fronts or bags but great for all of those lovely little projects my customers love to make.
I have more pieces of the fabric on the right hand side of the top row and one more piece of the left hand side bottom row. If they go quickly tomorrow please get in touch if you would like another piece.

Rag Rescue tries to throw very little away and we are committed to keeping fabrics out of landfill.

Vintage buttonhole twist, silk cottons and tacking cotton.

So many customers have said to me over the years that sewing cottons are not what they used to be. I have sold thousands of old vintage cottons over the years and everyone has been so pleased that they have come back for more.
Tomorrow Rag Rescue will have four more groups of sewing cottons added to the haberdashery department.
There will be a group of buttonhole twist sewing cottons, a group of silk twist cottons, some lovely coloured sheen and silko sewing cottons and two larger reels of what I use as tacking cotton.

Happy sewing.

Finally I have managed to get logged in to Blogger after trying all yesterday evening and all day today.

Four wonderful pieces of French fabric at Rag Rescue tomorrow

Had a great evening with my French dealer friend last night. Good food, wine and fabrics, oh so many fabrics. I bought over 100 pieces of French antique and vintage fabric and only just touched the surface of the twelve huge dealer bags that was bought into the house. You just have to buy the fabric when you can, as it is getting really hard to find good French vintage fabric at a reasonable price now.
I think I'd better have an early night tonight and catch up on the sleep I lost last night.

More 1950's smocking pieces

Tomorrow at Rag Rescue

Exciting news, my French dealer rang up a couple of hours ago. He is coming to bring me a large quantity of French fabrics arriving in about an hours time. Short notice but I really don't care. I've rushed around making a bed up for him so I'll be able to spend the evening in seventh heaven sorting through boxes of wonderful fabric. My ideal evening. We'll have a little walk along the sea front and take evening meal together and then I can start rummaging.
I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow.

Vintage watercolours and poetry book

Apologies for not posting this blog post last night, I was absolutely shattered.
It had been another trip to the dentist only to be told that the pain I was suffering was nerve trauma and would subside eventually. Still all the work completed now thank goodness.

I'm back with more vintage fabrics tomorrow

Sorry about yesterday's hiccup, not my fault but blogger was having a breakdown.
Obviously the surgeons have fixed the problem now as has my dentist, who took all of my stitches out today, so we are both feeling much better.

I hope you like these wonderful vintage fabrics that I shall be listing tomorrow, one English and  five French pieces. All different to the run of the mill designs that can be seen elsewhere. that's what makes Rag Rescue special, don't you think?

Rag Rescue now has customers not only in the UK but also as far afield as Australia, Japan, Austria, USA, Finland, New Zealand, Germany, Sweden, Indonesia, Ireland, Portugal and South Korea. We are now global. I just need to find those interesting sewing items for you all.

Try your hand at smocking

If you have been watching this blog or the Rag Rescue website, you will know that I have been listing 1950's pieces of smocking. These came from a lady who made children's dresses for the 'Liberty' store.
Tomorrow I am listing two pieces that are incomplete and just need a few lines to finish and also two pieces that have not had the embroidery done at all. They are already pulled up so it should be easy to work the embroidery pattern.

Vintage fabrics at Rag Rescue

Just had to have six teeth out today and as they wouldn't stop bleeding I've now got 12 stitches, so feeling fed up really. Well actually a bit strange, I suppose it is all of anaesthetic and painkillers I've had in the last 6 hours.

Still couldn't miss listing this post and the newsletter will go out as usual tomorrow.

You all know where these vintage fabrics will be listed, but in case you don't click on the link

More 1950s smocking pieces at Rag rescue tomorrow

Being listed tomorrow at 7am at the Rag Rescue website

This smocking came from a house clearance where the lady created children's clothes for 'Liberty'.
The smocking is perfectly executed as you would expect it to be if it was going to be sold by 'Liberty'

French vintage toile fabric scrappy pieces

I have placed a number of pieces of French toile together ,as they don't have complete designs but which I thought could be used creatively either in patchwork, cards or appliqué work. You know me I won't throw anything away if I think it can be used.
Waste not want not - recycle, recycle, recycle.

How would you use these pieces of French toile fabric? I'd love to hear your ideas so please comment.
All at the Rag Rescue website tomorrow

Monday, 2 May 2011

Vintage fabric scrappy parcels and strip rolls at Rag Rescue tomorrow.

These vintage parcels get snapped up so very quickly, usually on the day I list them.

Would you like more more scrappy parcels listed on the site rather than scrapbags?
I'd like to start a discussion through comments on this post as it will help me help you to get what you really want in terms of vintage fabrics for your particular crafts.

Please comment on this post.
