Rag Rescue 'Pick of the day' - Large piece of antique beaded net with the Glasgow rose design. Discount day.

A most amazing piece of beaded net in the Glasgow style containing a design of five 'Glasgow roses' using  white and silver glass bugle beads of differing lengths. there is a central slightly larger rose 9.5cms x 10cms and 4 slightly smaller roses 9cms x 9cms.
the roses are surrounded by trailing stems and leaves which create a flowing design all in beads.
The net is a pale pink and it has two large scallops on the bottom edge moving from 68cms plus 4 cms of beaded drops to 40cms + 4cms beaded drops at the top of the scallop shape.
The whole piece is 1.25m wide.

There is some damage to the top of the net away from the decoration at both end which could be trimmed off. However the main decorated piece is in excellent condition.

There are so many uses for this beaded piece one of which would be to use the design for other items.

The 'Glasgow rose' was a signature in many of Charles Rennie Mackintosh interior designs around 1900. It is thought that it was first used by Jessie Newbery in her textile design, although this hasn't been proved and was soon everywhere in Glasgow.

This beaded piece is very rare.

Rag Rescue's sourced items for sewing art journals.

Something a little different today. A number of antique advertising papers have been added to the website.
These can be used in so many ways. I like to use them in my sewing journals, either as they are or copied onto linen. I am sure you can think of so many more uses.

I love this idea of using vintage haberdashery as a cover for an art sewing journal. Of course any of the above advertising papers would look great incorporated into the design.

A busy time at Rag Rescue website

I've been busy making a large Christmas cake this weekend. It is years since I made one, but as the family are coming over for Christmas I thought I would make a big splash this year. Lots more baking on my list. That is when I have completed the decorating of the guest room.

I've still found time to wrap up all of the orders that came in over the weekend. My husband will have to take two large bags full of parcels to the post office this morning. This is why I haven't had time to write any posts this weekend, just so busy.

Today I've listed four lovely pieces of vintage fabric for all of those small projects.
I'm afraid two of them have already been snapped up but there are still plenty on the website to wet your appetite.
Here is a wonderful idea that I found and ideal for using small vintage fabrics.

It was made by
It has been sold now, but she has some great ideas.
Here are the vintage fabrics that I listed over the weekend.
You can see descriptions and prices

Well I'd better get moving now. I need to sort mum out and when the shops open go and buy some paint and sort out a new carpet for the guest room.
There is no rest for the wicked.

If vintage fabrics are used they will be so unique. So simple but effective.

A day out in Wensleydale.

I had a wonderful day out in the Yorkshire dales today. We passed through Ingleborough and on through Wensleydale to the market towns of Hawes and Leyburn. On our return we stopped at the Ribblehead Viaduct for lunch and a quick walk for Poppy as it had started to rain again. Ribblehead is an area of dramatic moorland with the viaduct being an engineering marvel a must see if you are ever up in Yorkshire.

It was wonderful to get out for the day. It is the first time I have left mum on her own all day but with emergency plans in place I was able to get some fresh air at long last.
I've listed some more French vintage fabric today, have a look at these - -
