FEATURE ON RAG RESCUE IN THE TEXTILE DIRECTORY

A couple of weeks ago I submitted the 'Rag Rescue website' to the 'Textile Directory'. The next day I got an email from Sarah Drinkwater, the editor of the Textile Directory. She wrote the following:-
"I was just looking through your website after you submitted your listing to the Textile directory and I think it looks great! I think it is just the kind of thing our readers will be interested in so wondered if we could work together on a feature about the site for our website and newsletter."

The feature has now been written and if you click on the avatar at the top you can read the article for yourself.

All comments welcome so that I can pass them back to the editor.

Embellish with beads competition

We are all thinking of what we can make for St. Valentines Day.
Here is a competition to spur you all on.

Create anything that is embellished with beads that would be suitable for a St. Valentines Day gift. It can be large or small and you must use as many recycled fabrics, trims and embellishments as possible. Of course there must be plenty of beads.

Send a photograph of your work to me at

sandie-k (at) tiscali.co.uk

before the 10th February.

The winner will be announced here on Valentines Day.
1st prize will be a goodie bag of antique and vintage embellishments including £12 worth of Victorian beads.
Photographs of all entries will be placed on this blog at a later date, with your permission of course.

Good Luck

Fantastic blanket made in Germany

This magnificent blanket has been made by a customer of 'Rag Rescue' and a friend.

It must have taken her ages. What a great deal of patience she has.

The yo-yo's have been made from vintage fabrics and she has felted everyone of them onto a blanket. Such a lot of hard work but what a result.
The friend she presented it to must be over the moon with delight.
Absolutely brilliant Monika.

EVIE CARDS

I came across this young artist at the Newark Antique Fair last year.
Her enthusiasm over the 'Rag Rescue' fabrics bowled me over. She told me that she made cards using photography and painting but would like to try her hand at a different technique using fabrics and embellishments.
In December last year she had a beautiful selection of her work on display. The card above is one of her creations. She has used antique French fabric, vintage handmade lace and a shiny vintage button in a simple but delightful way.
Her finger painted Christmas cards were impressive and sold quickly.

If you would like to see more of her work email at

evie_b99@hotmail.com

All embellishments were purchased from

RAG RESCUE

Keep up the good work Evie.

GETTING INTO THE SWING OF THINGS.

Yesterday was my first day back at work and after such a long break I found it difficult to apply myself. It always takes me a long time to wind down but when I do I have a real job to order my thoughts. I have such a long list of things to list on the Rag Rescue site and although I make a 'To do' list the hours seem to slip by as interruptions are inevitable when working at home.
The good thing yesterday was that I managed to get my PC sorted out. It wasn't picking up the internet from the router, but now the kind man has fixed it and I'm back on line and able to send all the update emails quickly. I have just got to sort out my laptop now but that can wait.
I did manage finally to photograph and list some embellishments, trims and haberdashery, a few of which you can see in the picture above. These are fresh to the market, so I hope some of you will have use for them.
Dark days in Winter make for difficult photography so please excuse any photographs that aren't up to my normal standard. Don't forget to email me if you would like more detailed photographs or further information on an item.
Well I'd better get dressed and have breakfast now and start clicking the old camera on the lovely fabrics I'm listing tomorrow. Yesterday I had a parcel arrive from France with lovely fabrics and I can't wait to show them to you.
Until tomorrow - keep looking.

NEW LISTING FOR A NEW YEAR

A Happy New year to you all.

It seems an absolute age since I was working, well actually it is. Christmas has come and gone and here we are in a new year. My New Year celebrations were spent with old friends and then we travelled down to Guildford to spend a long weekend with my son and his partner. We had such a wonderful time with them visiting the Comedy store in London to see amongst others, Josey Lawrence and Paul Merton. On Monday we woke up to see the snow everywhere and set off on a four and a half mile walk up hill and down dale, so exhilarating.
Now we are are back home and back to work once more.
I have placed about thirty new scrap bags on the Rag Rescue site this morning and will be making more this week with some wonderful French fabrics. I'm hoping to photograph and list a variety of items this week if the light permits. So please keep looking at 'New Listings' category.
I'm having problems with my PC picking up the router signal at the moment so am having to use my laptop. Unfortunately my Microsoft word programme isn't working on the emails on the laptop so you may not all be notified of listings until I get the PC fixed. I have a chap coming to look at it today so fingers crossed.
