One way of using old smocking pieces, vintage fabric and silks

I wanted to see if I could use the 1950's smocking pieces in a different way.
Having found an old folk tale about how a rainbow was made, which included two birds I set about making them using the smocking fabric.

Here are some more close-up photo's from the completed work.
You can read the story on my 'Feltissimo' blog

Fantastic! I love all those little flowers, too.

(You can see a bit of the gorgeous strip roll I recently bought from you used as a brooch backing in my latest blog post.)

Glad you like it Hen. It took ages to make the little flowers as most of them are embroidered and padded. Just love the brooches, they look super.

Thank you for your lovely comment kemberlee. I'm glad you like the felt work. It did take rather a long time to do. My granddaughter loves it and has it hanging in her bedroom for all of her friends to see.
