Old pieces of quilt for Art projects at Rag Rescue

Rag Rescue sells salvaged pieces of old quilt and today I have listed three lovely pieces onto the website. Many customers unpick the fabric from the quilt which is a good idea if you have a particular purpose for it.
I love the Art work produced by 'Thread and Thrift' as she uses a base of one or many antique or vintage salvaged quilts and creates a piece of art on the top of them using old fabrics. The first photo shows one of her pieces.

Superb antique silk fabrics found at Rag Rescue

More exquisite antique silk fabrics have been put on the website this morning. These are just divine and rare.

This is an early antique tan coloured silk with woven golden spray flowers and light green fruits and embroidered silk fuschias. I would say that it is early 19th century if not earlier.

I think it must have once been part of a dress as there is a light scrim backing attached.

The silk measures
59/57cms x 15.5/11cms ----23.2"/22.4" x 6.1"/4.3"

Fantastic wine coloured silk with the most luxurious soft to the touch.

Unfortunately due to it's age there are some areas of wear and some splits. However if this was used for applique with a backing they wouldn't show. There is a lot of silk to use for projects.

57/55cms x 44/33cms --- 22.4"/21.6" x 17.3"/12.9"

A wonderful floral design on this antique silk and fine wool fabric.

54cms x 20/22.5cms ---21.2" x 7.9"/8.9"

This is in very good condition and would look great in the centre of a special cushion.

Being creative with vintage fabric

I've just been looking on Pinterest. You can make so very many items with vintage squares. What I really love is the superb fabric art that people create. Take a good look at the first image of an amazing piece of fabric art made by Freddy and Freya.

I've also shown you images of six more vintage fabric squares now on the website.

Vintage fabric for tose snall sewing projects.

Some of fabrics I purchase have small defects so I have to cut around them to obtain perfect pieces. If they are larger than squares I have decided that they are ideal for small projects.
I've added four more vintage pieces today.
