Vintage hexagonal patches and vintage sewing pouches.

It's a long time since I listed vintage hexagonal patches, so there are four more being listed tomorrow and more to come in the following weeks. I'm also listing two lovely vintage handmade sewing pouches. One is for threads and the other for your small scissors, thimbles and other paraphernalia.
My apologies today for not answering order emails straight away or getting shipping costs to you. I had a wisdom tooth out today and was rather shaky afterwards but will be back tomorrow as good as new and back to work with vigour.

Vintage Easter at Rag Rescue

Three lovely old Easter cards with special verses not often seen these days.
There is also a lovely vintage egg cosy featuring flowers with little faces. I know that one of my customers was after these cosies a while ago but I have lost her email so perhaps she will see this blog post.
Talking of egg cosies I had a lovely email from a customer today who sent me this wonderful picture of two egg cosies she has made using felt and scraps of vintage fabric. Alix uses very tiny pieces in her work and I am sure you will agree with me that she must have a lot of patience to sew these small pieces on to her work.
Aren't they just divine?

Alix also sent me some more photo's of her work but they deserve a post all of their own.

Blog posts and Rag Rescue links from kind trade and customers.

This is a great blog to link to. Elaine has many followers and even more on eBay where she does the majority of her selling. Why not go over there by clicking on the link above and see for yourself.

I've been buying and chatting and chatting and buying from Elaine for many years now and if you have been following my blog you will know that I've been selling some wonderful 1950s smocking pieces lately. I bought these from Elaine and she has written a very kind post about how I used a couple of these smocking pieces in my felt work.
Thank you Elaine and thank you for the link.

On the same day as Elaine's post, I got an email from a lovely customer called Diane. She too had written a post which included a mention of Rag Rescue as she had used some fabric trimmings she bought from me and included in a collage she made. The collage is great and thanks for the write up Diane.
The post can be see on the Pantry violets blog ' Memories of Summer post.
This is a great blog.
"Pantry Violets" are women who met by chance in the Dordogne in France on a craft workshop. The women came from a variety of countries and so have lots of interesting posts to write especially on their ideas and creations.
I have already had some large orders from the friends Diane made.
Thank you so much Diane.
Diane also has her own  blog called
Another must read.

One way of using old smocking pieces, vintage fabric and silks

I wanted to see if I could use the 1950's smocking pieces in a different way.
Having found an old folk tale about how a rainbow was made, which included two birds I set about making them using the smocking fabric.

Here are some more close-up photo's from the completed work.
You can read the story on my 'Feltissimo' blog

Vintage fabric scrappy parcels at Rag Rescue

I just can't keep up with the demand for these scrappy parcels, they are just so popular.
Each parcel has 20 pieces of wonderful vintage fabrics. I don't use these sizes so it is great to see that they are being recycled and re-used.

These four will be listed tomorrow on the Rag Rescue website
